OUT NOW: Tribute to SG Music Icons: Tamagoh – 40 Years of Rhythm & Resilience 🥁✨
“Put your egos outside the door when you are practicing.” 🚪🚫🙌
In this special edition of the Tribute to SG Music Icons series, I sit down with a man whose name is synonymous with the drums in Singapore: TAMAGOH. 🇸🇬🎵
For over 40 years, Tama has been the engine room for some of the greatest musical moments in our nation’s history. From his 35-year partnership with Jeremy Monteiro to backing international stars like Sandy Lam and Sarah Brightman, his journey is a masterclass in versatility and professional longevity. 🎹🌟
In this episode, we explore:
- 🥁 The origin of the name "Tama" and his early "kampong" roots.
- 🌃 The golden era of Singapore’s nightlife and the transition to global jazz stages.
- 🎙️ His technical evolution and long-standing relationship with Shure gear.
- 🏙️ His pivot to leadership as Director of the Singapore Street Festival.
- 🚲 The physical and mental discipline of a musician who cycles 150km a week to stay sharp!
This isn't just a talk about music; it’s a conversation about the heart, soul, and timing it takes to become a true icon. ❤️🔥
