The Breath of Life: Ecclesiastes 1:1-11 - Dustin Hunziker
Notas del episodio
What if the problem isn’t that life is meaningless, but that we keep expecting temporary things to give us something permanent? In Ecclesiastes 1:1–11, the Preacher introduces us to hevel: breath, vapor, smoke, something real, but fleeting and impossible to grasp. Generation after generation comes and goes. The sun keeps rising, the rivers keep flowing, and the world keeps turning, while our brief lives pass away. So what are we supposed to make of a life that is so precious, yet so temporary?
Ecclesiastes doesn’t invite us to despair, but to see life rightly. Our lives are fleeting, but fleeting does not mean meaningless. We cannot make this life last forever, but we can receive it as God’s gift, enjoy it while it lasts, hold its blessings loosely, endure its hardships without despair, and live faithfully before the God who stands beyond it. And in Jesus Christ, we see the ultimate answer: the eternal Son entered our fleeting world and through His brief earthly life accomplished an eternal salvation.
