Psalm 103 is one of Scripture’s greatest songs of praise, calling God’s people to remember His goodness and respond with wholehearted worship. David urges his own soul, “Bless the LORD,” not because life is always easy, but because God has shown immeasurable mercy to undeserving sinners. He forgives our iniquities, heals, redeems, satisfies, and crowns His children with steadfast love and compassion. Most wonderfully, the Lord does not deal with us according to our sins or repay us according to our iniquities. Instead, His mercy reaches higher than the heavens, His forgiveness removes our sins as far as the east is from the west, and His fatherly compassion rests upon those who fear Him.
