Fáilte Welcome to The Village Oak Tree for October 30th. I am your host, Terrance Ó Domhnaill. Thank you for spending a little time with me again this week. I have more news stories that may get someone's attention a little this week. This week, I have stories from Europe, the U.S. and Iceland. I have a couple of climate change news stories that we should pay attention to, some stories about western Europe with regard to the war in Ukraine, and I want to talk a little bit about the upcoming U.S. elections next week. To wrap things up, I have another chapter from The Priest to read to you. More of Michael Campi's dystopian future story about what the collapse of the United States would look like from a first person perspective.

This week, I review some more news stories from around the world to highlight more dysfunctional politics and war mongering from the U.S. I have several stories about corruption and how the government isn't helping its people. Sending all of its money overseas instead of helping out the hurricane victims. I have a lot to say about Israel and Ukraine today so come listen to what I have found and then stay tuned while I read a political essay on the state of the U.S. elections and what the people actually want instead of what is being offered. Then I wrap the show up with another chapter of The Priest. Warning, the essay and story have adult language in them so I am restricting this episode.

Fáilte Welcome to The Village Oak Tree for October 16th. I am your host, Terrance Ó Domhnaill. I thank you for joining me. I thought I was going to have an interview with a former Oklahoma politician, but he ghosted me so, it's just me this week. I have a bunch of offbeat new stories that I have collected over the last week from non-mainstream news sources that tell us about a little different take on what the American mainstream news media is telling everyone. The majority of which are about the wars in the middle east and Ukraine and the west's involvement one way or another. I also have a segment on how the U.S. government is not helping so much with the people struggling to pick up the pieces of their lives after hurricane Helene a couple of weeks ago. I wrap up the show with chapter 13 of The Priest to continue to bring what a post-apocalyptic world will look like in the U.S. someday.

Interview with Steve Brigham - Author of It's Never Been a Level Playing Field

I bring you my interview with noted author, Steve Brigham, who wrote a book about the systematic racism prevalent throughout American society. He has served as a community engagement consultant with clients across the country, been married to an African American woman and has biracial children. This book is a call to action to address this systematic issue ingrained in North American culture and try to bring about change. I encourage anyone wishing to get involved to read his book and see where you can help.

I have another commentary for listeners. This time, I talk about climate change related large storms, like what is happening around the world right now, and how it is, according to climate scientists, is caused by excessive use of fossil fuels. I relate some history of the fossil fuel industry and how things got started, and delve into how the current war in the middle east could cause the world to shut down if Iran shuts off the Straits of Hormuz. I offer a lot to think about given what is going on right now. After the break, I read another chapter from The Priest, a dystopian future serialized story I have been closing these editorials with recently. A realistic look at one man's journey in the U.S. after everything collapses. This is more of what the future of this podcast is going to look like. The interviews are nearly finished, with one more coming next Wednesday. Starting in November, I will be combining two podcasts under one name, The Village Oak Tree to try and offer myself a better work life balance. We'll see how that works out.

Interview with Petra Alliance and My Friend ASM Esquire

This week for my normal Wednesday broadcast, I have ASM Esquire. whom I interviewed last March about his previous book about debunking the bible and other religious books. Today, we talk about his new book of poems, Love Poems for Men, and segway into politics and how that is affecting his viewpoint and his community. He is of Syrian descent, so his community is part of the Arab diaspora in the U.S. I invite anyone to listen to this and see if anything we talk about resonates with you and your community.

The Village Oak Tree Special Edition for Sept. 30th, 2024

This is another special edition where I recorded another conversation with my friend Mitch, who lives in Florida. The point of our lengthy conversation is to discuss the things that matter to us on a personal level that effect all of us one way or another. Whether it is climate change (we talk about hurricane Helene that just went through) the wars in the middle east, especially the recent events in Lebanon, and how all of these things affect our daily lives or may impact our immediate future, such as the real possibility of the renewal of the draft in the U.S., based on a TikTok video he shared with me. Watch the video and see if anything stands out for you and your community wherever you live in the world.

Interview with Carla Vergot - The author of the Lily Barlow Series

I have this wonderful discussion with Ms. Vergot about her books, her social media presence and some of her troubles with publishing her books. She is from the western part of Virginia in the United States and her books are about a young lass who aspires to be a bit of a detective. They are pretty popular with young adults. Come join us as we talk about her books and a little bit about her life as a writer.

Cead Fáilte I finally decided to come out of hiding to air my thoughts on the affairs of the world, Or at least the ones that matter the most to existence of the human race as we know it. As usual, I run the gamut of the wars, U.S. politics, and a bit about the ongoing Covid epidemic that seems to garner little to no attention from anywhere anymore. To top things off after describing just how close the U.S is to starting a nuclear war with Russia, I take the second half and read a couple of dystopian fiction short stories to give everyone a feel for what the end of civilization will look like after the world falls apart. I read a new short dystopian future story that may be the beginning of a new book, and another chapter of The Priest. Be warned, the first story is restricted due to adult graphic language.

Interview with author, Robert Cook

As mentioned previously, I am currently interviewing published book authors of fictional stories. This week, I have a somewhat short interview with a former Army Major, IT software developer, and author of four books now. His latest, The Mahdi. We talk a little bit about his background but mostly about his books. This is not one of my better interviews as this gentleman needed some assistance with his laptop and the conversation was less than congenial at times. Take a look, if nothing else, his books look very interesting to read.
