What happens when Jesus heals someone… and the town wishes He hadn’t?
In this midweek Bible study from Mark 5:1–20, we step onto the rocky shoreline of the Gerasenes—Gentile territory, graveyards in the hills, pigs on the slopes, and a man who has been living among the tombs. He is chained, unmanageable, cutting himself, crying out night and day. The town has learned how to survive him. They built systems around his suffering.
And then Jesus arrives.
The storm has barely settled when mercy walks ashore. The man runs toward Him. Legion is named. The pigs rush into the sea. And when the dust settles, the once-demonized man is sitting, clothed, and in his right mind.
And the town is afraid.
Why would a community reject a miracle? Why would they beg Jesus to leave?
Because healing has a price.
