[NEWS] Two people are dead after a shooting near Evergreen Street and Calvados Avenue. Police say the female victim died at the scene; the male later died at the hospital. Investigators believe the male’s gunshot wound was self-inflicted. No outstanding suspects. Investigation continues. A serial copper theft suspect is in custody following an overnight operation near light rail tracks. Deputies with Sacramento Regional Transit arrested 51-year-old Jesse Jeremiah. Deputies recovered 18 strands of stolen copper wire and burglary tools. Theft damage is estimated at $73,000. Jeremiah was already on probation, had an active felony warrant, and is being held without bail. Midtown Stabbing Victim expected to recover, suspect detained. One woman dead in shooting Ahern and A streets. [CITY WATCH] First 5 Sacramento approved $4.17 million in funding. Funding supports 35 first-time, community-based organizations. Programs will serve families in 27 high-priority ZIP codes across Sacramento County.
