Called to the Scene: A Police Chaplain’s Perspective | Guest Chaplain Sam Turbeville
What happens when the person answering the call isn’t there to make an arrest—but to bring comfort, hope, and the presence of Christ?
In this episode of The Off Duty, On Mission Podcast, Tre Graham sits down with Chaplain Sam Turbeville for a powerful conversation about ministry on the front lines of law enforcement.
Chaplain Turbeville shares what it means to walk alongside officers, first responders, families, and communities during some of life’s darkest moments. From death notifications and traumatic scenes to the quiet struggles officers carry long after the shift ends, we explore why the ministry of presence matters—and why sometimes the most powerful thing a chaplain can do is simply show up.
“The God of all comfort… comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble.” — 2 Corinthians 1:3–4
For the officer carrying something you haven’t told anyone about, the spouse wondering how to help, or the first responder questioning where God is in the middle of everything you’ve seen—this conversation is for you.
Being present. Bringing hope. Pointing to Christ.
