What if commissioning begins not with being told where to go, but with learning how to see? Drawing from Matthew 5 and the story of Apollo 8’s iconic Earthrise photograph, we explore the Sermon on the Mount as Jesus’ invitation to imagine the world from a radically different perspective. Before Jesus gives his disciples a mission, he gives them a vision—a glimpse of God’s Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. What might happen if the church learned to see that world, imagine it together, and live as though it were already possible?
In the second message of our “How to _____ Church” sermon series, we turn to Mark 2:1–12, the story of a paralyzed man carried by his friends to Jesus. Through the image of physical therapy and the faith of these friends, we explore how healing can be painful, intentional, and deeply communal—and how ultimately, it is Jesus who heals. As The Nett walks through a season of transition, we consider what it means to allow God not simply to restore us, but to remodel and reinforce us for the new season ahead.
We begin our “How to _____ Church” sermon series, a journey through what it means to be the church in a season of transition and to faithfully step into what God is doing next. In John 12:24–25, Jesus tells us that a grain of wheat must fall to the ground and die in order to bear fruit. In this first sermon titled: How to Kill a Church, we explore the difficult but hopeful truth that sometimes new life requires letting go—trusting that God is not finished with us, but is continually making all things new.
In our DOHNG-HAENG/ACOMPAÑAMIENTO series, we explore the practice of walking with others in the way of Jesus—not from above, but alongside one another through the joys, struggles, and ordinary moments of life. Drawing from Luke 24:13–35 and the Road to Emmaus, this message explores a Jesus who comes near, walks alongside, listens, and remains present. Acompañamiento invites us to do the same: to walk with one another long enough to discover that Christ has already been walking the road with us.
In the first message of our DOHNG-HAENG/ACOMPAÑAMIENTO series, we explore what it means to walk together in the way of Jesus as we step into a new season. Drawing from Joshua 3:7–17 and Israel’s crossing of the Jordan River, this message reflects on the courage it takes to leave what is familiar, step into the water, and move forward together. As we cross into what God has next, we are reminded that we do not make the journey alone—God is with us, and we are called to be with one another along the way.
