The Westminster Shorter Catechism - Question 26 - How Doth Christ Execute the Office of A King?

Welcome to this short catechism study. Join me every Sunday morning as we go through one question and answer. The Westminster Shorter Catechism was written in the mid-1600s by the Westminster Assembly, a group of pastors, theologians, and leaders gathered to bring clarity and reform to the church according to Scripture. Completed between 1646 and 1647 and approved in 1648 in London, this catechism contains 107 questions and answers designed to clearly teach the core truths of the Christian faith—even to those with a simple, childlike understanding. Each question builds on the last, helping us think carefully, biblically, and deeply about who God is and why we exist. This isn’t just about memorizing answers. It’s about shaping how we think, grounding what we believe, and learning to see God more clearly through His Word. We’ll take it one question at a time.

Hollywood Christian - When Jesus Becomes the Brand

There is something strange about Christian Hollywood. We have Christian singers on the radio. Christian actors on the screen. Christian bands selling out arenas. Christian artists standing on award stages, holding trophies, thanking God. We have Christian record labels, Christian radio stations, Christian concerts, Christian merchandise, Christian celebrities, Christian influencers, and an entire industry built around Christian entertainment. And yet, sometimes I find myself asking a very simple question: Where is Jesus? Not just His name. Not just the word “God.” Because your god could anything. Not just a lyric about being blessed, having a breakthrough, or making it through another difficult day. I mean Jesus. His holiness. His lordship. His cross. His resurrection. His call to repentance. His command to follow Him. His warning about denying ourselves and taking up our cross. Where is the Christ of Scripture in Christian entertainment? Welcome to Hollywood Christian.

T.U.L.I.P - The Doctrines of Grace: Perseverance of the Saints

Today, we begin a new series: TULIP — the doctrines of grace. Now before we go any further, We need to be clear about something. This is not a new gospel. This is not a different Christianity. This is an attempt to answer one question: How does God actually save a sinner? Because most people would say: “God saves.” But when you press deeper. You begin to hear different answers. Does God make salvation possible? Or does God actually save? Does salvation depend on God? Or does it ultimately depend on us? These are not small questions. They shape how we understand:Grace. Faith. Christ. And even the glory of God. salvation is: By grace alone, Through faith alone, In Christ alone. A lot of people ask. Where do those come from? Does grace depend on us? Does faith originate in us? Does Christ actually save or just make saving possible? This series is about answering those questions. Now for some, the word “TULIP” brings tension. Debates. Arguments. Labels. But that’s not what we’re doing here. We are not trying to win arguments. We are trying to understand Scripture. This is not about: “What system do I prefer?” It’s about: “What does the Bible actually teach about salvation?” At the heart of this series is one truth: Salvation is the work of God, from beginning to end. God does not simply assist us. God saves. This matters Because if we get this wrong. Everything shifts. Grace becomes something we activate. Faith becomes something we produce. And Christ becomes someone who makes salvation possible, But its not certain. And in the end. The glory begins to shift from God to man. But if this is true, If God truly saves, Then: Grace is sovereign, Faith is given, Christ is effective, And God gets all the glory. So as we walk through this , We do it carefully. Because these doctrines are deep. And they are often misunderstood. But they are not meant to confuse. They are meant to humble. To ground. To bring clarity. And ultimately, To lead us into worship. Before we begin, a quick note: TULIP wasn’t originally written as an acronym. These doctrines were clarified at the Synod of Dort in response to challenges about salvation. TULIP is simply a later way of summarizing what Scripture teaches about how God saves. TULIP isn’t the source, it’s a summary of what Scripture teaches about salvation
