Suffering does not automatically make someone holy. It can produce bitterness and pride just as easily as faith. While Paul answered his opponents with beatings, shipwrecks, and prisons, his pain never served as a personal trophy. It exposed human weakness so God’s grace could take center stage. The real danger is calling every clash "persecution". If people reject us because of an arrogant, combative, dismissive spirit, we are not suffering for Christ. We are suffering because of ourselves, and that calls for repentance.
