So what's going on? A ridge of high pressure is parked right over us. and strong southerly winds are funneling Gulf moisture straight up the state. There's a cold front stalled near the Red River, but it's barely putting up a fight. The result? We're running 57 degrees above normal this morning. Step outside right now and you'll feel 67 degrees under overcast skies. In March. I'll take it.
In the next 24 hours. North Texas is the one spot where that front matters. Highs top out around 78 degrees with partly sunny skies. Still warm, just not absurd. Tonight drops to a mild 62 degrees up there.
Now drive south and watch the thermometer climb. Central Texas hits 82 degrees this afternoon. South Texas? A sizzling 89 degrees with heat index values pushing close to 87. That's sunscreen territory, folks. Along the G ...
