Kathmandu University has successfully converted an old petrol car into an electric vehicle (EV), showcasing a remarkable example of student-led innovation. The project was researched and developed by university students, replacing the traditional petrol engine with a battery and electric motor. This initiative highlights a practical and affordable pathway toward sustainable mobility in Nepal. With the government preparing new laws to legalize such conversions, experts expect a rise in similar EV projects across the country. The estimated cost of converting a petrol car into an EV ranges from NPR 500,000 to 600,000.
