From its early beginnings in 1914 to becoming a legendary spring training home for teams like the Washington Senators/Minnesota Twins, Brooklyn Dodgers, and Cincinnati Reds, Tinker Field was more than just a baseball stadium — it was a piece of American sports and civil rights history. This historic field welcomed baseball legends including Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Hank Aaron, Rod Carew, Harmon Killebrew, and even Michael Jordan during his baseball journey. It also became the site of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s only public speech in Orlando in 1964, making Tinker Field culturally significant far beyond baseball. But after more than 100 years of memories, the grandstands were demolished in 2015 during the redevelopment of the Citrus Bowl, now known as Camping World Stadium.
