The Spill The Cafecito Podcast | Episode 11 Ant and JP are firing up the time machine! This week, we’re traveling through 2008–2020, revisiting the pop culture, music, politics, celebrity gossip, movies, national headlines, and unforgettable moments that shaped the world—and shaped us along the way. But before we start time traveling, we have some Hot Spills to get into. Can adults without children really give parenting advice? And when it comes to relationships and questionable behavior, are we putting a little TOO much blame on our zodiac signs? Because sometimes Mercury might be in retrograde…and sometimes you might just be the problem. Then we’re taking care of some unfinished nostalgic business! We circle back to the foods, snacks, TV shows, fads, and random things from back in the day that somehow escaped our last nostalgia episode. After that, buckle up because the time machine is officially leaving the station. From 2008 through 2020, Ant and JP revisit the major headlines, cultural moments, celebrity drama, music, movies, politics, and events they remember most, and talk about how those years affected their own lives and perspectives. Some moments get deep. Some bring back memories we forgot we had. And some, naturally, require a little Ant-and-JP shade. We’re covering it ALL on the time machine. Grab your cafecito and come travel back with us.
The Spill The Cafecito | Episode 10 This week JP is counting down to his upcoming European vacation via cruise, and Ant opens up about how his personal brand at work has started to feel under attack, and what that's done to his career opportunities and advancement. He's not chasing being liked by everyone. His focus is on building a positive, professional work brand that moves his career forward instead of holding it back. Then it's another round of Spill It Quick, the fast paced this or that lightning round, with Ant picking his way through a batch of pop culture nostalgia items. They also squeeze in another Hot Spill, this time tackling a hot button debate: should AI generated movies get their own category at the Oscars, or is that disrespectful to human acting and the performances that come with it? From there, JP and Ant dive headfirst into a decade of nostalgia, covering 1998 to 2008. Politics, major headlines, TV shows and movies, defining events, celebrity moments, and all the miscellaneous stuff in between. Basically everything that dominated pop culture and left a mark on how they see the world today, all the things that have been living rent free in their brains since childhood. This is Part 1 of a two part series. Part 2 will bring the nostalgia trip into more current pop culture.

Spill the Cafecito Podcast | Episode 9 JP and Ant are back for round two. They kick things off reflecting on Hispanic Heritage Month and what it really means to them, then hit two Hot Spills (hot takes): Is porn saving more marriages than it's destroying? And does everyone actually need traditional therapy? Then it's back to the Cafecito Main Topic for Part 2 of their mental health deep dive. This time they go there: teenage years, adulthood, family trauma, and how machismo culture keeps people from ever talking about feelings. They break down trauma stacking, and what it's like when family shuts you down by comparing pain instead of sitting with it. And finally, JP opens up about the relationship with his mom he's been teasing, getting real about how generational trauma played into a period of not speaking to her at all. They close it out talking about protecting your inner peace, setting real boundaries at home and at work, and leave you with their best advice for navigating mental health, for real, not just the highlight reel.
Not Loco, Just Human Pt. 1
Spill the Cafecito | Episode 8 This week, JP and Ant kick things off in The Spill of the Weekend with concerts and a fair, Ant caught Bruno Mars, JP caught Sarah Bareilles, plus Ant finally watched The Odyssey. Ant's also feeling much better health-wise this week. Then things get heavy. JP and Ant dive into the Lindsay Clancy case and unpack one of the most polarizing questions in the country right now: should she be held criminally liable, or does this belong in a mental health conversation instead of a courtroom? They dig into the role her medical team may have played, including the prescriptions and the missed signs of postpartum psychosis, and ask whether her husband bears any responsibility for the circumstances leading up to that day. Spoiler: JP and Ant land on opposite sides, just like everyone else talking about this case. From there, the conversation turns inward as the two open up about mental health growing up, whether it was ever talked about at home, going to therapy, and the stigma that followed them into adulthood. This one's raw, it's split down the middle, and it's only half the story. Part 2 drops next, don't miss it.
Spill the Cafecito - Episode 7 Bias or preference? Where's the line? This week Ant and JP open with The Spill of the Weekend. Ant kept it low key with a certified bed rotting weekend (in the best way) and previews his hype for the Bruno Mars concert next weekend, while JP celebrated a low key birthday at home followed by a family bingo bash on Sunday. Then it's Spill It Quick, where JP fires 15 rapid lightning round questions at Anthony to separate racial preference from racial bias. No overthinking allowed, just gut reactions. From there, they head into the Cafecito Main Topic: a real deep dive into those same 15 questions, unpacking how context changes everything, how a "preference" can quietly be bias in disguise, and why racism doesn't have to be loud or explicit to still be racism. Sometimes it just looks like a pattern of race based only preferences nobody wants to examine. They close out with Learnings, reflecting on where they each land on preference vs. bias, and landing on the real takeaway: it's less about what you prefer and more about asking yourself why that preference exists in the first place.
Spill the Cafecito – Episode 6: This week, JP and Ant dive deep into spirituality, religion, and everything in between. In The Spill of the Weekend, JP shares highlights from his pre-birthday celebration while Ant gives a health update. Then it's on to Hot Spills, where the guys debate whether graveyards are a waste of space and why we hold onto them anyway. For the Cafecito Main Topic, JP and Ant get personal, unpacking how religion shaped their upbringing, including the ways it was used to internalize hate, alongside the music, tradition, and community it gave them. They reflect on traditional Christian ceremonies (like becoming godparents) and what those milestones meant then versus now. The conversation turns to their own evolving belief systems, how they view organized religion versus personal spirituality, and doesn't shy away from calling out religious hypocrisy and the bad actors who claim to act in God's name. They close out with learnings: a reminder that your connection to something bigger has to be personal. You don't need a church to have morals or live a life with purpose and practice love.
Spill the Cafecito – Episode 5: This week, JP and Ant catch up on their wildly different weekends, JP's still deep in his summer adventures, while Ant was laid up dealing with a flare from his chronic illness. From there, it's straight into the Hot Spill: should an apology be as loud and public as the disrespect that caused it? Plus, is unfollowing or unfriending someone over political or ideological differences actually constructive, or just an echo chamber move? Then the conversation gets personal. JP and Ant open up about their journeys discovering their preferences as queer Latino men — the lack of support, the absence of real-world guidance, and what it meant to have to become their own teachers along the way. They talk sexual expression, how they use fashion and personal style as extensions of their identity, and what living with a sex-positive mentality actually looks like day to day. They close that segment with advice for young queer folks just starting to explore their sexuality, the lessons they wish someone had handed them earlier. To wrap the episode, they dig into bisexuality specifically within Latino culture, why so many bi men stay in the closet, and their fear of rejection from women. Spill the Cafecito – Episode 4: This week, we're spilling the cafecito on relationships, all of them. Friendships, romance, and the ones we spend 40+ hours a week in at work. Nothing is off limits and nothing gets a filter. We kick things off with some hot takes on DE&I in the workplace (yes, we're going there), and somehow end up debating whether audiobooks even count as "reading," a fight that gets more heated than it has any right to be. JP breaks down how he defines friendship at this stage of his life, who makes the cut, who doesn't, and why that list has changed. Ant gets real about the lessons learned from past relationships and marriage, what he'd tell his younger self, and what he's still figuring out. We close it out on the one relationship that shapes every other one in your life: the relationship with yourself. If that one's broken, good luck with the rest. Spill The Cafecito - Episode 3: JP & Ant break down the soundtrack of who they are. In this episode, JP and Ant hit play on the music that raised them; the songs, artists, and genres that shaped their upbringing and still hit different today. They trace their personal soundtracks back to Saturday cleaning days with mom and Sunday mornings at church, unpacking how the music we grow up with becomes part of who we are. The conversation goes deeper as they tackle homophobia in reggaetón; the genre's complicated relationship with masculinity, sexuality, and the artists pushing back against it. They also spotlight the career journeys of some of their favorite artists: the grind, the reinvention, the moments that turned talent into legacy. To close it out, JP and Ant open up their own "playlist of the heart," the tracks that mean the most to them and why. Raised by Humans, Not by Santos
Spill the Cafecito – Episode 2: This week, Anthony and JP are spilling the cafecito on everything from pop divas to family drama. They kick things off by celebrating their eternal love for Mariah Carey and Kylie Minogue, then somehow end up asking the age-old question: Who is J.Lo, really? 👀 From there, they take a trip down memory lane, sharing the story of how they met and how their friendship—and chosen family—came to be. The conversation gets a little more personal as they reflect on the lessons, challenges, love, and the trauma they received from their parents, and how those experiences continue to shape them as adults. It's funny, heartfelt, nostalgic, and just a little shady—the kind of conversation that feels like catching up over cafecito with your favorite queer Puerto Rican cousins. Whether you're here for the pop culture, the family stories, or the laughs, this episode has something for you.
