Beyond the trees, an abandoned wand and a ring of mushrooms draw the companions into battle with one of Malrick’s escaped creations: a monstrous fusion of serpent and armadillo protected by nearly impenetrable scales.

When the dust settles, Halen receives what he believes is a sign from the Shaper, Wyn acquires another magical mystery, and the party returns to Fishbrook to prepare for Venom Thicket Tower—and the enemies, secrets, and old acquaintances waiting there.
