#3 Sjónarhorn - Johan Rockström - AMOC – A national security threat
Sjónarhorn - Þáttur 2 - Ása Berglind Hjálmarsdóttir
In this episode, I sit down with Johan Rockström, one of the world’s leading climate scientists and Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. Rockström is internationally renowned for pioneering the Planetary Boundaries framework and his research on climate tipping points. We discuss the potential weakening or collapse of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), its possible consequences for Iceland and Northern Europe, and the scientific uncertainties surrounding these predictions. How close are we to irreversible climate changes? What does the latest research reveal, and how should governments respond to the risks facing our planet?
