A major eruption of the Colion volcano in the Philippines has led to an emergency alert and evacuation orders. The eruption, which lasted two minutes, sent a plume of ash 2,000 metres into the sky and caused pyroclastic flows. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has issued a level three alert, prohibiting entry into a 4-kilometre radius danger zone.
