Anika "Doing Her Job" Wells, Social Media Ban, and Bryce Courtenay

Hi folks! We're back with our second-last episode of the year, where we're just going to go around some recent happenings—although, obviously, the news has moved on to the other big thing that happened. Anika Wells is the latest Minister for Sport, and politician in general, to be caught up in a scandal regarding the amount of public money that goes to the lifestyles of the rich and dangerous. We then talk more widely about the Social Media Ban—its efficacy and ethi...cacy, I guess. We round out with a brief chat about The Power of One, a shithouse book. Section 18c of the Racial Discrimination Act (Slurs Episode)

Australia's Racial Discrimination Act, brought in by the Gough Whitlam government in 1975, is an optimistic attempt to legislate away racism in public life, like housing and employment. Section 18c tries to do that with hate speech. And that's perhaps a challenge not befitting Australia's legislative system—or, maybe, any. We have a look at an ongoing case by the Zionist Federation of Australia's Alon Cassuto against the long-time SBS Newsreader Mary Kostakidis, and Ciaran learns about some of the perhaps silliest 18c cases brought up throughout history. Sussan Ley: Who Iss Sshe?

Welcome back to Shouldn'ta Come! Today we defy all logic to assk the quesstion: Who Iss Sussan Ley? Sussan is not only the first women to be Leader of the Liberal Party (and the Liberal-National Coalition), she's also the first woman to be Leader of the Opposition, the first woman to do so with a pilots license, and the first woman to do all that and also add an extra S to her name for numerology - sorry - 'teen punk' reasons. Saudi Australia 2: The Working Australians Policy (WAP), Kafala-style Agricultural Slavery

Hi folks! We're back with another episode in the ongoing Saudi Australia series, comparing and (occasionally, but not often) contrasting the two sport-focused countries constructing anachronisms in the desert. How would an archaeologist even begin to approach the Line as a concept? Saudi Australia: Guns, Ore & Camels

Saudi Arabia and Australia are basically the same, if you ask the Shouldn'ta Crew, who spend some time looking at the links between Australia and Saudi Arabia, our investment in Weapons Companies, and how many guns we give people doing war crimes. I Don't Like Cricket (for Personal, Social and Political reasons)

Hey folks! This week we're having a look at Australia's Past-time, a sport that most people either don't like, don't know about, or don't want to hear a single fucking word about! We talk about how much space it needs, how the sport itself reifies classist relationships, the most debased things Yani heard playing cricket, the whiteness of the Australian team, the Spirit of Cricket and, finally, the Mankad.
