Anxiety and restlessness are defining features of modern life, but this struggle is not new. As far back as Genesis, humanity was crying out for relief from toil and burden. Jesus answers that cry in Matthew 11:28 with an invitation to find true rest in Him. That rest, however, looks different than most people expect. It is not relaxation or leisure but rest found in meaningful labor, loving relationship, and an eternal perspective. When we come to Jesus as children who receive rather than performers who earn, something shifts. The burden does not disappear, but it becomes genuinely light when carried alongside Him.
