The last episode presented Christianity as a rescue: God has entered a broken world. This episode asks the question that rescue forces: who did Jesus claim to be?
Many people are glad to call Him a great moral teacher. His words about love and forgiveness still move us. But Jesus also claimed the authority to forgive sins, spoke as the unique Son of the Father, and said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” C.S. Lewis argues that those claims close the polite middle door. If they are false, Jesus is not a wise teacher. He is either deliberately deceiving us, or deeply mistaken about Himself. If they are true, He is Lord.
This short talk does not demand a finished decision. It asks for honesty about the size of the claim.
Scripture: John 14:6–9 Practice this week: Sit with one quiet question: if Jesus claimed what the Gospels say He claimed, which feels most plausible right now — that He was lying, that He was mistaken, or that He was telling the truth? Do not force an answer. Notice what rises, and bring it honestly before God.
