In this bottle episode, Rick and Morty's trip to Atlantis is a narrative decoy — the entire episode follows four parallel stories inside the rebuilt Citadel of Ricks. A Morty from the underdog Morty Party wins a presidential election against media hostility and a failed assassination. A rookie Cop Rick is partnered with a corrupt, self-loathing Cop Morty whose methods escalate into mass murder. A factory worker Rick takes a memory-harvesting plant hostage, only for his moment of freedom to become a product flavor. Four student Mortys make a pilgrimage to a Wishing Portal that turns out to be a garbage dump. In the final minutes, the new president reveals himself as Evil Morty from Season 1 and executes the Citadel's shadow council. Rick, returning from Atlantis, remains completely certain none of this will ever affect him.
