Victory Over Trouble - G.D. Watson

We are quickly headed into such a devasting time that we cannot even imagine, as most of us believe that life will magically continue as it always has but that's simply a lie. Each of us must determine in our hearts that we will walk in victory in the midst of our struggles through the power of Jesus. May this word from Brother Watson encourage you to put all of your trust and all of your life into the hands of Jesus now, so that you and I can walk in victory in the dark days that will soon be upon us. This chapter is G.D. Watson's book "Types of the Holy Spirit" which was published around 1900. The book is available for free via the Wayback Time Machine archive: https://archive.org/details/heavenlylifetype00wats/page/78/mode/2up. Finally, there's a song that fits this reading well from Brother Ron Kenoly and Sister Crystal Lewis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wf8AumurLs4&list=RDwf8AumurLs4&start_radio=1

Some Spiritual Distinctions by G.D. Watson

Today's podcast is another reading by the writings of G.D. Watson, a holiness evangelist from Virginia. The reading is from the book entitled "The Bridehood Saints" published in 1910 by what later became God's Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Some of these things you may already know, already may be very helpful to you in your walk with Jesus. As Brother Watson said in the title, this is some but I think many of his observations are pertinent in our time as well. Be blessed as you listen! Special music is the old hymn written by Thomas Dorsey in 1933 and sung by Gordon Mote: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGhCIOIH4BA. (If you would like to read this book, it's available free on the Wayback Time Machine: https://archive.org/details/bridehoodsaintst00wats/page/238/mode/2up.

The Caught-away Ones (by G.D. Watson)

Today's podcast is a chapter in G.D. Watson's book Bridehood Saints that was published in 1910 by what later became God's Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio. The message is as important if not more so when first delivered in the book. May the Holy Spirit open our eyes to see that we are in the last days. Does your reflect your readiness to meet Jesus in the air and show your devotion to Jesus? Are you a nominal Christian or have you truly given everything into His mighty hands? The song I've chosen is "Refiner's Fire" by Brian Doersken, may we be willing to be in that refiner's fire of the Lord: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJFwNCaIO3g

A Spiritual Will (by G.D. Watson)

On today's podcast, Brother Ed reads another chapter from G.D. Watson's book "A Pot of Oil" and this chapter is entitled "A Spiritual Will". Our will is critically important to what transpires in our walk with Jesus and this short teaching is helpful and will prepare your heart for the next chapter that will be coming soon. ...every angel and man is just as holy as he determines to be; no more, and no less. (from today's reading) Have you fully exercised your will to do what Jesus asks of you, regardless of the personal cost? Here's a song from Joshua Aaron entitled "Hosianna" that captures the cry of my heart for you dear one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGW62zTwfiw&t=4s.

Vessels of Prayer

This is the first of three short readings from the powerful book "A Pot of Oil" written by G.D. Watson and published in 1900. On today's podcast, Brother Ed reads this chapter, which focuses on the call of every Christian, in that there is a call to being a vessel of prayer. Webster's 1828 defines vessels literally as a vat or container of something, so we're called to be containers of prayers from the Holy Spirit. Note the progression that comes as we mature in Christ, which is evidenced in our prayer life. One thing that Brother Watson didn't talk about in this short chapter, is the devil's reaction to our calling as vessels. He will do everything possibly to side-track from God's purpose in our lives, so we must learn to walk in the spirit lest the devil divert us. Finally I want to show some of the commentary from James 5:16 and James 5:17 from a brother named W.B. Godbey, another holiness preacher and teacher from the late 19th century to the early 20th century which explains Brother Watson's teaching even more clearly. 16. “The inwrought prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” The Greek for inwrought is energeumenee. It means the prayer wrought in the heart by the Holy Ghost. It is from ergon, work, and en, in. When the Holy Ghost works a prayer in your heart He is sure to answer it. This wonderful truth is corroborated by the case of Elijah, when he prayed three years in the cave by the Brook Cherith... 17. “Elijah prayed with prayer” (not “earnestly,” as your English reads). “With prayer,” as the Greek has it, is very significant. It means that Elijah prayed with the prayer which God gave him. That is the reason why he could lock the heavens three years and six months and withhold the rains. If God were to give you the prayer you could do the same, because God always answers the prayers which He gives. Learn the secret of prevailing prayer. Get in touch with the Almighty so He will give you your prayers, then He is sure to answer them. It makes no difference how low down your son or husband has sunk in sin, if you get in touch with God, so He will give you your petitions. You have but to take hold of Him in prayer and He will raise them up. “Elijah was a man of like suffering,” i. e., he suffered hunger, thirst and pain as we do. “Passion” is the wrong word, as Elijah was surely saved from all carnal passions, as we ought to be. (W.B. Godbey's Commentary on the New Testament (Full release in 1910)) I pray that the Lord will teach you to pray as you listen to this messages. Little Things

Today's book reading is from another G.D. Watson, this one entitled Soul Food and was published by what is now God's Bible School in Cincinnati Ohio in 1896. We tend to be focused so much on the big things that we can miss God in the little things. Be blessed as you listen. Trust and Obey (Thoughts about my grandmother)

Scriptures Used During This Podcast: Romans 12:1, Romans 2:4, Joel 2:28-29, Matthew 19:30 On today's podcast, Brother Ed shares his thoughts on his precious grandmother and her impact on his walk with Jesus! This old song (see below) from the McKameys reminded me of my grandmother and I encourage you to listen it to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NvOdUs4-uk&list=PLsQiit4-9gF83rMuRDZ91EZIgI0GjtvjQ&index=61

Pure Gold (by G.D. Watson)

I'm reading a chapter from the book "Pure Gold" and this chapter is the one the book is named after, talking about the three types of gold and purification process that God calls all Christians to engage in. It's a wonderful message, be blessed as you listen. If you're a Christian, you cannot and will not be able to escape God's refining process in your life. We can choose to look at this in one of two ways, as our dear Brother Watson looked at it, which was on the hopeful side. If we go this way, how can our heart not grow hopeful and trusting, even in the midst of a great fire because we know he simply wants to liberate the gold. I've chosen this path because it's greatly encouraged me to trust Jesus, even in the midst of some difficult storms. On the other hand, we can grown hard and bitter if we think that Jesus wants to take something of value from us. Jesus only wants to remove any and everything that blocks the gold from its liberation. Jesus is determined to set you free! Put your trust in Jesus, He wants to liberate you, so that you can serve the Lord with gladness come what may in your life. Amen! Here's a message in song from Keith Green that goes along with this message from Brother Watson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNww8F6G9U8&list=RDPNww8F6G9U8&start_radio=1.

(Thy Kingdom Come!), Thy WIll Be Done

Scriptures Referenced in this message: Matthew 6:10 (Key Scripture), Psalm 143:10, and Psalm 25:4-5 (Recommended John 14:26, Proverbs 3:5-6, Matthew Chapter 5-7 (the Beatitudes) and Psalm 143 This was my first use of OBS in some years, so it was a little bit rough but the message is very straightforward and simple. Does God's will carry weight in our life, that we choose it above everything else? Here's a recommended song to go along with the message: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xVT3dzlrTs

The Shut-in Hour with Sister Opal Helphinstine

In this short audio from 1990, the Pastor who preached the revival where my grandmother and her husband were restored from backsliding speaks on her radio broadcast. My grandmother didn't have a phone until 1980 and the Lord brought with the phone, a wonderful prayer ministry that blessed many through the years. Be blessed as you listen along...
