In Episode 16 of the Retro Pioneers Podcast, Byron welcomes special guest co-host NaeT as they sit down with Miss Melleuyy — a Montreal-based gaming journalist, writer, streamer, music industry professional, and rising voice in the Canadian blerd community.
Melleuyy shares her journey into gaming and journalism, from growing up in a creative family to working in the music industry, launching her own media platform, and eventually diving into gaming through writing and content creation. She breaks down how Threads helped her build her first audience, how she joined a game jam alongside Ubisoft and Warner Bros. mentors, and why she’s committed to taking chances and creating her own opportunities.
We explore her path as a gaming journalist—analyzing player reactions, studying community feedback, and writing from the perspective of real gamers rather than corporations. She talks about balancing her music media work with gaming journalism, her love for soundtracks, and why she plans to start reviewing game OSTs next.
The episode goes deep into gaming: Kirby nostalgia, Halo storylines, Fortnite and Call of Duty updates, controller settings, first-person vs third-person shooters, Xbox Game Pass value, and her favorite characters like Lucas from Smash and Sonic the Hedgehog.
Melleuyy also shares her Montreal culture — bilingual life, food, Chinatown, youth homes, and her mission to be a positive role model for younger cousins and local kids.
She opens up about faith, spirituality, manifestation, staying motivated, and how journaling, prayer, and keeping her “child heart” guide her forward.
This episode is warm, inspiring, international, and full of real talk about writing, gaming, spirituality, culture, and staying true to yourself.
