Episode 53: The Scottsboro case

This week Samantha gets Montana in a state by telling her about the nine young black men/kids out of Scottsboro wrongfully accused of sexually assaulting two white women. As a note for listeners, wrongfully accused black men haven been and are still convicted of crimes they didn't commit. Their sentencing is much harsher than that of white males. While our justice system and the advocates around our justice system have passed laws to alleviate some of the harsher punishments, there is still much work to do.Resources:https://www.aclu.org/issues/racial-justice/saga-scottsboro-boysWicked North Alabama by Jacquelyn Procter Reeveshttps://www.britannica.com/event/Scottsboro-case
