What makes a story timeless? Can an Arabic film ever be truly apolitical?Can a story about men ever exist without being a story about women? And what happens when we shift the gaze? Lebanese filmmaker Cynthia Sawma welcomes Rawiyat member Myriam Hage to explore these questions and more—reclaiming narratives and centering women’s voices in cinema.

Myriam el Hajj is a Lebanese filmmaker. Her second feature documentary, Diaries from Lebanon, premiered at the Berlinale Panorama in 2024. She also teaches film at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts and is a member of several film commissions, including the CNC. Myriam is also a founding member of Rawiyat.
