Is The Black Church Obligated to Help Black Communities?
Is the Black Church obligated to take care of the Black Community, or has its role and responsibility changed over time? In this segment, we have an open conversation about the relationship between the Black church and the community it serves. We discuss what responsibility churches have beyond Sunday service, including helping families in need, supporting the neighborhood, providing resources, mentoring the next generation, and being present when the community is struggling. We also go back and forth on where that responsibility begins and ends. Should the Black community expect more from its churches, or are we placing responsibilities on the church that belong to the entire community? Different perspectives hit the table as we discuss the history, influence, expectations, and future of the Black church. Listen in and ask yourself: What responsibility does the Black church have to the Black community today? Hosted by: MODDAGOAT, Let’s Talk Jeff, DeJuan LeBray, D.A. out DAT West, and BREEZY Segment pulled from The Talking Goats Season 1, Episode 1Should People Mind Their Business?
Does “Mind Your Business” protect our peace, or has that mindset sometimes hurt our communities? In this segment of The Talking Goats, we discuss when staying out of other people’s business makes sense and when speaking up could actually help someone. Have we become too disconnected from our neighbors? Where is the line between being nosy and simply looking out for one another? We put different perspectives on the table, talk about accountability, community, looking out for each other, and whether the “mind your business” mentality helps or hurts us as a culture. Listen in and ask yourself: When should you mind your business, and when is it your responsibility to speak up?
