Turning From Sin
A right view of God changes our relationship with sin. If we see God as small, distant, or unconcerned, we may begin to compromise. We may excuse attitudes, habits, thoughts, or behaviors that are clearly out of line with His will. But when we recover the fear of the Lord, sin no longer feels casual.
The fear of the Lord teaches us that God is holy. He sees not only our public actions but also our private choices, our motives, and our thoughts. Nothing is hidden from Him. That reality is sobering, but it is also an expression of His grace. God reveals what is unclean in us because He loves us too much to leave us enslaved.
Repentance is not punishment; it is an invitation. Scripture says God’s kindness leads us to repentance. He calls us away from sin because sin destroys. He calls us into holiness because holiness is life.
There is a difference between loving Jesus in theory and revering Him in daily obedience. We can sing songs, attend services, and speak Christian language while still allowing compromise to grow in hidden places. The fear of the Lord brings those places into the light.
God is not asking for partial surrender. He is worthy of our whole lives. His holiness confronts us, but His mercy receives us. Through Jesus, we do not have to hide. We can confess, turn, and be made clean.

2. Is there any sin you have treated casually that God is asking you to confront?
3. What practical step of repentance do you need to take this week?
Prayer:
Holy God, search my heart. Show me where I have compromised or become casual with sin. Thank You for Your mercy and patience. Give me courage to repent, turn away from evil, and walk in holiness. I surrender every hidden place to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
