Join Wayne Giles as he reads and expands on the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, offering deeper understanding and practical advice for those on their recovery journey. In this Step 2 AA session, Wayne highlights the transformative power of believing in something greater than ourselves. The Big Book shares the experiences of thousands who were once atheists or agnostics, yet found a miraculous change through accessing a power greater than themselves—a power that accomplished the humanly impossible.
“Every single one of them—atheists or agnostics—believers dying in their addiction, every single one of them has gained access to and believes in a power greater than themselves. That’s a pretty ringing endorsement.”
Wayne reflects on his own life, sharing how this miraculous power transformed his existence, even after 17 years of prison due to a selfish, self-centered, and destructive lifestyle. This session emphasizes that the journey of recovery is not just about quitting harmful behaviors, but about experiencing a profound spiritual awakening that changes everything. It’s about recognizing that, no matter how far gone we might feel, this power can bring about a miracle in our lives, even when we feel we have nothing to do with it.
