Notas del episodio
Join Wayne Giles as he reads and expands on the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, offering deeper understanding and practical advice for those on their recovery journey. In this Step 1 AA session, Wayne openly reflects on the desperate actions many take when driven by addiction, like stealing from family just to get another fix. He acknowledges the shared experiences of those in recovery, emphasizing that while the past may be filled with wrongdoing, it’s the redemption that truly matters.
“Yes, I need to demonstrate where I was at so that I can testify to you about the redemption that’s been wrought. The type of redemption that’s in my sister sitting over there with a little bit of time sober after so long with none. That’s what we’re talking about.”
Wayne highlights that in nearly all cases, the ideals necessary to recreate a life must be grounded in a power greater than oneself. This session also hints at the upcoming exploration of Step 2, where embracing that higher power becomes key to lasting recovery.
