“Have any of you been told you never have to feel this way again if you don’t want to? How many of you found out you were lied to? You’re going to feel worse, but you won’t have to feel that way alone. And if you want to get well, I’ll walk with you while you do.”
Joe also reminds us that sometimes our message isn’t received right away. If someone isn’t ready to accept help, we may need to step back and let them experience their own struggles until they’re ready. As Joe reflects, even during the darkest times, the words of recovery stay with us, waiting for the right moment to take root.
