Join Joe McDonald as he reads from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, delving into the promises and conditions outlined in Step 3 AA. Joe emphasizes the importance of understanding the foundational promises and the experience of the first several thousand who have successfully recovered by thoroughly following the path.
Joe shares, “They start out with some promises and conditions. See if you can identify promises and conditions as we go through it. Rarely have we seen a person fail who’s thoroughly followed our path. What’s the promise? And who’s the ‘we’ telling the story? The first one hundred, telling the story of the first several thousand. Bearing witness to the first several thousand who have recovered, rarely have we seen someone fail who has thoroughly followed our path.”
Joe’s discussion highlights the significance of recognizing the experiences of those who have come before, and the commitment required to follow the recovery path. This session emphasizes the importance of taking action and understanding the collective wisdom found in the AA community.
