In our last episode, we discussed POA validity periods. Today, we're covering Power of Attorney in inheritance matters, particularly when heirs are overseas.

When someone passes away leaving UAE assets, those assets must first go through the applicable inheritance process. Depending on the circumstances, this may involve a court order, a recognised will, or other legal documentation that identifies the heirs and their respective shares.

Once the heirs are confirmed, they can retain, transfer, or sell their inherited assets. If an heir is outside the UAE, they can appoint a trusted representative through a Power of Attorney to act on their behalf.
