In this conversation, Lady Sheba moves with the kind of confidence that comes from lived knowledge—speaking as a dominatrix, educator, and artist who understands both the psychology and the poetry of her world. She traces the quiet power of makeup as ritual and signal, reflects on her stewardship at the Carter/Johnson Library, and honors leather not just as material, but as memory—stitched deeply into LGBTQ history and survival. Woven through it all are reflections on representation, mentorship, and how kink relationships continue to evolve with more intention, care, and community than ever before. Lady Sheba’s photographic installation will be on view at the Carter/Johnson Library & Collection in January 2026. Some legacies don’t just ask to be seen—they invite you to look closer.
