In 2 Samuel Chapter 22 we have a song written after David had been delivered from all his enemies. The song here is almost identical to Psalm 18, but there are five phrases here that are not in Psalm 18, and there are four different phrases in Psalm 18 that are not here.

The Psalm 18 version also has a heading “To the Chief Musician.” David wrote songs and handed them over for specific use in worship, but here we see a version that he himself sang which is slightly different. Both versions are a part of God’s word even with their differences. The main theme of this song is how the victory is ascribed to God, who equips David for victory.
