In 2 Samuel Chapter 21 we come to the last four chapters of 2 Samuel, where we have a collection of stories which relate back to various moments in his life. Various scholars have analysed the linguistic features, and the chiastic pattern of these stories. Essentially it demonstrates that these stories are not an afterthought, but a planned inclusion.
It also reminds us that every part of the Bible is placed there with Christ’s intention, and there is value in it for us. The first story is of a famine. David sought the Lord and found it had a spiritual cause because Saul had sinned against the Gibeonites.
