Many Liberian parents believe that if they cannot read or write, they cannot help their children learn. This belief is understandable, but it is not true. In Liberia, parents are the first and most important teachers a child will ever have. Long before a child enters school, learning begins at home through talking, listening, observing, and encouragement.
