Today’s reading takes us to Daniel 6, where the lion’s den reveals what had already been built in the ordinary days. Daniel’s integrity was so strong that his enemies had to invent a charge against him, and when prayer became illegal, he simply continued “as he had done before.” His devotion did not begin in the crisis—the crisis exposed the devotion that was already there. Daniel 6 reminds us that obedience cannot depend on a guaranteed outcome. Daniel did not know he would survive the lions, but he knew God was still worthy of his devotion. And when deliverance came, it was the Lord who shut the lions’ mouths and turned Daniel’s faithfulness into a witness before the kingdom. So today, read Daniel 6 and ask the Lord to make prayer an ordinary, repeatable habit in your life—because what you practice before the lions will determine how you stand when the lions come.
