Today’s reading takes us to Zechariah 3, where Joshua the high priest stands accused, filthy, and unable to defend himself. Satan brings the accusation, but the Lord answers for Joshua. The priest has no argument strong enough to silence the accuser, but God speaks one sentence and the courtroom changes.

Zechariah 3 reminds us that God does not tell sinners to clean themselves up before coming near.
