Then we follow Zeryl through the Firefly Oasis trap, a wrong turn into the Masnia Desert's beast-clan trial grounds, and a choice that defines him: faced with a second guardian worm, he doesn't draw a weapon. He dismounts and bows.

We sit with that inversion, then follow Zeryl into the Magma Maze, a previously-unsurvived trial sealed inside an active volcano, where the still-unnamed void weapon on his arm saves his life for the first time.
