NCJA 10-14: First Responders, Caregivers, and Dementia

November is National Family Caregivers Month. Join host Kirk Puckett in this episode of NCJA 10-14 as he talks to Denise Young, program manager with the Alzheimer’s Association – Western Carolina Chapter. They discuss how first responders can interact with caregivers and dementia patients during calls of emergency and crisis, and what resources are available to assist caregivers and first responders alike. NCJA 10-14: Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is recognized as Domestic Violence Month. Join host Kirk Puckett with guests Nisha Williams, legal director with the NC Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and Cathy Roberson, Executive Director of the Cleveland County Abuse Prevention Council, as they discuss domestic violence, service providers, confidentiality restrictions, and working with law enforcement officers.   Domestic violence service providers cannot confirm or deny if a person is receiving or has received services when law enforcement is attempting to serve an arrest warrant or locate a missing person. September is recognized as National Preparedness Month. Join host Kirk Puckett and guest Victoria Cortes as they discuss how to take action before, during, and after an emergency or disaster. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention and 3,000 governments and health institutions support emergency preparedness efforts at the global, national, regional, and local levels. NCJA 10-14: Dr. Tina Jaeckle on Mental Health

Mental health and physical health go hand-in-hand. The Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act of 2017 recognized that law enforcement agencies need and deserve support to protect their employees’ mental health and well-being.
