S3 #22-"The Greatest Delicasy of the Whole Trail"

Season 3 Episode #22-This episode comes from Reflections #133 where James D. Ogletree is interviewed by C. Herb Skoog on 5/27/1979. James tells the story of his opa Henry D Gruene who went on a real-life cattle drive in 1870. The terminology is interesting and not too complicated to figure out. Before you listen to the podcast see if you can guess what "the greatest delicacy on the whole trail" was.

S3 #21- "Officially its called the Green and White Little Store"

Season 3 episode 21-The origins and development of the Green and White Store are discussed by Ray Mendez, Sr on 12/14/1978 for Reflections #110 hosted by C. Herb Skoog. Also Ray Mendez, Jr. and Mary Mendez Flores also talked to C. Herb Skoog on 09/06/2006 for Reflections #2021. The stories are similar, but interestingly offer a good recollection of the Store's history. I am informally calling this one "Officially its called the Green and White Little Store.:"

S3 #20- "It was just like a piece of cake"

Season 3 episode #20-In this episode Bernard Gutierrez is interviewed by C. Herb Skoog for Reflections#2149 on 6/26/2013. Mr. Gutierrez discusses the beginnings of the City Bakery which turned into the New City Bakery that is still open and operating on the corner of San Antonio St and Chestnut St. I am informally calling this one "'It was just like a piece of cake." Part of the Sophienburg's celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and the Hispanic business focus for our annual Fiesta Patrias.

S3 #19-"the objectives of an arboredem"

Season 3 episode #19-This episode discusses the Arboretum in Landa Park. It comes from Reflections #427 with Delores Schumann and Joyce Kalodize interviewed by C. Herb Skoog on 2/6/86. I am informally calling this one "the objectives of an Arboretum."

S3#18- "We're not goin' to tear it down"

Season 3 Episode #18-This episode comes from Reflections #54 and Reflections #869. In the first one, C. Herb Skoog interviews Alfred Harry on 10/26/1977. The second one, Iris Schumann interviews Kay Lynn Faust Specht on 02/27/1997. They talk about the moving of the Faust house across Seguin Street in 1927. I am informally calling this one-"We're not goin' to tear it down."

S3 #17-"No, I never hesitated."

Season 3 Episode #17- This episode includes stories about the submerged settlement of Hancock. Hancock was intentionally flooded for the construction of Canyon Lake. From Reflections #0127 Gus Hanz is interviewed by C. Herb Skoog on 04/18/1979. Mr. Hanz talks about living in Hancock and its eventual submergence. I am informally calling this one "No, I never hesitated.:".

S3 #16-"A baseball life together"

Season 3 Episode #16- This episode includes FN "Bill" Warwick and his wife Margaruite who were interviewed on 02/16/1982 by C. Herb Skoog for Reflections #0267. They discuss Bill's career in Major League Baseball including his participation in the 1926 World Series playing for the St Louis Cardinals who ended up defeating the famous New York Yankees. Season 3, episode 15-This episode includes parts from three different Reflections programs on Juneteenth in New Braunfels. The first clip is from Reflections #0067 recorded on 02/02/1978 where C. Herb Skoog interviews Leon Parker. The second clip is from Reflections #0313 recorded on 03/10/1983 with C. Herb Skoog interviewing Lucille Garcia. The longer final clip is from Reflections #0805 recorded on 02/14/1995 with Iris Schumann interviewing Ogden "Jack" Coleman, Margaret "Maggie" Adams and Mary Millette Johnson. I am informally calling this one "Boots and His Buddies on a day that no one worked"

S3 #14- "several cases of beer down inside the pool"

Season 3 #14-This episode comes from Reflections #0581 which was recorded on 01/31/1990. C. Herb Skoog interviews Roger Reininger, Bucky Warwick Smith and Tommy Ortiz about their time working in Landa Park as lifeguards. I am informally calling this one "several cases of beer down inside the pool."

S3 #13- Carroll Udo Hoffmann Tribute

Season 3 #13- Carroll Udo Hoffmann Tribute-We lost Mr. Hoffmann recently and wanted to do a tribute to his memory. He was an important member of the New Braunfels community as well as the Sophienburg Museum. This is from Reflections #0755 recorded on 10/13/1993, interviewed by J. C. Reagan. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends.
