Introduction: Nature, Incorporated (Nature, Inc.) – The Journey Begins

Our human condition is to be of nature. However, to grasp and cherish what gifts nature has to offer means we must tune our ears to a different frequency. The way nature speaks is subtle and gentle. It can also be loud and persistent. For those who have heard nature's calling, it resonates on a deeply personal, individual, and often magical level. Nature, Incorporated (Nature, Inc., for short), bridges the gap within ourselves through the stories of those who have taken the steps to shine the light on our journey ahead.

If anyone can do it, rock artist Lisa Custard can. She makes one-of-a-kind, jaw-dropping connections with some of the most under-appreciated members of the mineral kingdom.

Keeping Urban Parks Wild – L.A.'s First Urban Ecologist Courtney McCammon

If P-22 did nothing else, his arrival at one of the largest urban parks in the United States, Griffith Park, put a spotlight on urban wildlife. The resulting 10-year coexistence with L.A. city residents developed a loyal following. When he passed in 2022, the City took the bold step of bringing on the first urban ecologist in its 124-year history. Hear how Courtney McCammon advocated for the park during her tenure, how nature has shaped her throughout her life, and how she's passing her passion on to her daughter in this lively and thought-provoking discussion.

How Nature Adapts – Observations of Ornithologist Dr. Dan Cooper

Just in the last ten years, the advent of birding apps fundamentally changed the way people interact with their natural surroundings. Just about anyone can now have access to the largely unknown world of birds and contribute to a collective scientific environment. This is a good thing for ornithologist and urban ecologist, Dr. Dan Cooper, who thinks conservation can only succeed when there are many contributors.
