Temporada 2

S02 Bonus Episode - Monstrous Mythtakes - Redfish, Bluefish, Dryfish, Manfish

A Monstrous Mythtakes that promises two things - fish and fish. You might think that's the same thing, but it's actually two different kinds of beautiful and deadly fish. We imagineer the Putrid Manfish, a stinky fish that does the unthinkable. And don't forget about the Gaudy Dryfish, interestingly not a fish at all, but very pretty. And sometimes deadly. S02 Bonus Episode - Monumental Mythtakes - Giants and Bastards

We are back to it, and creating more things to cram into our incredible sci-fi TTRPG setting. This time, we are on to a Monumental Mythtakes where each host presents a monument, something left behind from the past, to his counterpart who must then come up with a back-story for it. Today we talk about the mysterious and ancient crimes of the Sleeping Giants of Ikth as well as the fascinating fate of Admiral Ogu's Bastardium. What is a Bastardium? You'll have to find out. Chris pitches the best possible Avatar: the Last Airbender spin-off series in this one. Join us, won’t you? Some Mythtakes Happen, but these ones are on purpose. S02 Bonus Episode - Burps in a Duck (Actual Play)

A continuation of last month's BLADES IN THE DARK foray as Aaron desperately tries to convince me that it's the right TTRPG framework for Season 2 of Mythtakes Happen. Spoiler so you don't have to listen to this drivel: I agreed. Also featuring: Sage, a son I LITERALLY created without help from anyone. I tried my best on this one, but as I said last month, this isn't an Actual Play podcast and so this is very rough. Rough like what I imagine the inside of a cat feels like. Warm, though. It's a pretty warm one of these. Join us, won’t you? Some Mythtakes Happen, but these ones are on purpose. S02 Bonus Episode - Blokes in the Dork (Character Creation)

A BONUS EPISODE where Aaron tries to convince me and my son Sage that Blades in the Dark is the correct system to use as a basis for the Celestial Deep. We present this bonus episode as a bit of a peek behind the proverbial curtain (from the curtain proverb) of how character creation works in Blades in the Dark and how decision-making works in a creative space. This one is rough, folks. The podcast was never meant to handle actual play content, and it shows. I have done my best to clean up the audio here. Join us, won’t you? S02 Bonus Episode - Monstrous Mythtakes - Silly Snailor on the Seas of Fate

S02 Bonus Episode - Monstrous Mythtakes - Silly Snailor on the Seas of Fate A Bonus Episode where each host gives the name of a monster to the other, who has to ON THE FLY come up with a suitable background for it, fitting it into the world of the Celestial Deep. Today we look at the great iron-carapaced and fast-evolving Sparsharks that were a great menace in the early days of Deep exploration. We also talk about the poop-loving Preposterous Clown Snails who make the waste tanks of our vessels swell in delight (and danger). Join us, won’t you? Temporada 1

S01E12 Mythtakes Happen - Debts and Deepvaults

Ever wondered how the professionals go about making an adventure from scratch? We wish we knew too! We gave it a crack anyway in our final Episode of Season 1. Chris and Aaron sit down with zero planning before the session (if you don't count all the previous episodes) to write the first playable adventure in Heliakon. We hit all (some) of your favourite places we detailed earlier; Go to Sawtooth Lodge for a lovely chat with charming Basil Sawtooth himself! Tour Brightmarket, see the sights, buy some trinkets, wrestle with a gang of thieves for a chest of government-toppling documents, deeds and gold. A pleasant stroll at speed into the Brazen Dome where being squashed by the inexorable lowering of the ancient edifice is the least of your problems. Make your way through the historic Shallows, meet new people or better yet, avoid them. Escape your new friends to the scenic and occasionally safe Midvaults and immediately wish you hadn't. Caught between an inexplicable puzzle and a pack of hungry and oddly chatty ghouls is a good time to explicate in a hurry. The big Benson, Benson and Byrde Bank building is in sight, but there are still shadowy forces who would prefer you didn't make it in. Is this a fascinating look into the real guts of the creative process and mechanics of adventure design or just two blokes giggling about the word 'shaft'? Join us, won’t you? Some Mythtakes Happen, but these ones are on purpose. Episode 12: Debts and Deepvaults Supplementary Material COMING SOON (we ran out of time, sorry). S01E11 Mythtakes Happen - We Are Knot Okay

We talk about revolutionary movements in Heliakon and the Illegitimate Children of Foolish Empires and the way that people organise in the face of terrible things. Our world becomes more fleshed out with the addition of further ways we stand against imperialism and colonialism. Definitely no parallels with the real world here. We examine the Great Consociate Empire's Upright Doctrine and its support of the pseudo-scientific practice of psychomageiatism, a nonsense theory created to oppress the poor and justify the social standing of the wealthy. And we delve into Weftenfray, the knot magic of the Halflings and how its intricate patterns hold the power to reshape the world (as well as the darker aspects of that mysterious practice). S01E10 Mythtakes Happen - Divine Rights & Wrongs

Gods and godlings galore! A plethora of pagan powers are introduced in The Celestial Pantheon; twelve definitely gods and two maybe-kinda-sorta-nearly gods are all briefly described and discussed. From the Father of the Great Consociate, Gruvold to Gengolof the Great Scaletipper. From baker gods to bro gods. We then take a deep dive into the highest reaches of society as we examine the Consociate Nobility. Their titles and duties and how the gamut from the very top down to those barely above the common-folk all fit into society. Switching focus from the broad to the specific, we take a close look at just one family of Consociate nobles in Heliakon; the Khedia O’zeenasea. How position and the past have shaped them and how they, in turn, may shape the future. Also Blood Farmers turn out to not be as nice as their name makes them sound. Join us, won’t you?
