MOVIES WITH MY MOTHER
por Alexis Norton and Laurel EastEPISODE 29: THE FIFTH ELEMENT
Y'all this episode is the epitome of technical issues. It turns out the computer mic did all the recording, so it's reeeeaaalllll rough. We watched The Fifth Element and had Beef and Broccoli over sticky rice. I spilled a drink and you can hear the exasperation in the worst opening ever. We also got mired down by little fun trivia. Luc Besson is a tough subject. I'm sorry. I did what I could with this train wreck. I promise the next recording is better. We are on Facebook and Twitter (Movies With My Mother and @MWMMpod) and have an email for comments/suggestions-movieswithmymother@yahoo.com. Please don't send hate about the clicks and pops.EPISODE 28: SUPER TROOPERS
Mom and I sat down and watched Super Troopers. She LOVED it! LOL We also sent condolences to the UK Royal Family on the loss of Queen Elizabeth II. We talked about Meghan Markle's podcast and how the world is going to end after the next Pope dies...which may or may not be a conspiracy theory? Thank you for sticking with us! We try to update when we record on Facebook and Twitter (Movies With My Mother and @MWMMpod, respectively). Send any comments, suggestions and/or recommendations to our email: movieswithmymother@yahoo.comMom and I sat down with our first guest (!!!!), Kurt Mefferd, and watched guest pick Willow. We had a lovely chat, flexed a little movie trivia and I had to repeatedly shoot down the idea of watching Howard The Duck. We hope you enjoy!
EPISODE 26: THE CABIN IN THE WOODS
On a creepy day, Mom and I sat down to watch The Cabin In The Woods. Themed meals are still postponed, but as Mom will point out, they really only consumed beer and marijuana....and yeah, that's not an activity we share. I feel like you all are kind of in for a treat, because this is an uncharacteristically focused episode LOL. I think this movie had a wealth of trivia that we weren't used to. And, for a horror/slasher type movie, Mom was a little impressed, which was a huge bonus for me. We want to thank you for sticking with us and my super erratic posting schedule. I'm medicated again, so I'm hoping that helps my focus and will to do more than survive. There are soooo many new spots on our map and I cannot tell you how thrilled we are that you lot are giving us a chance! We'd love to hear from you. We're on Twitter as MWMMpod and Facebook as Movies With My Mother. Our email is movieswithmymother@yahoo.com. Also, if you are so inclined, please like, rate and review wherever you get your podcasts. In the time it's taken me to get this posted, we've passed our 1 year mark and got our 600th download. It's overwhelmingly cool for two ladies from Ohio, USA who started this really as an excuse to spend time together. We have more episodes coming. Again, thank you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We couldn't do this without any of you.Mom and I sat down and watched Office Space, a 23 year old movie that has held up so well, you'd cry if you weren't laughing. Please be warned that there is a big jump cut in the recording around the 53 minute mark. It seems that recording froze and missed the end of one conversation, causing me to then delete the subsequent chatter about our tech and my basic grasp on soft and hardware. If you'd like to get ahold of us, we can be found on Facebook or Twitter at Movies With My Mother and MWMMPod, respectively. We also have an email at movieswithmymother@yahoo.com
Happy Belated Pride to all! Mom and I sat down to watch Kinky Boots. She had seen the touring stage production, but not the movie, so it was a fun time to be had. There wasn't a lot of trivia for this movie and the events of the few days before recording were heavy on our spirits. In the US the highest court of the land overturned a 50 year old ruling that allowed for women to be provided safe abortions. Now it is up to the states to choke women's bodily autonomy, which many have been greedily waiting to do. It is sick and a very sad time to be the owner of a uterus in the United States. We urge all allies, ladies, men who care about women's rights and people with uterus' in general to contact all of your state and local representatives on both sides of the aisle. We urge you to get out and vote these suuuppppeeerrrr conservatives that wouldn't know science if it bit them in the ass. Next year's Pride may very well hinge on this as they are already musing about overturning the right for gays to legally marry. We love you. We love love and really, we need it now more than ever. You can agree or disagree with us, but don't be a dick about it. I will block you. <3 In mid-April, Mom and I sat down to watch one of my husband's favorite movies, The 'Burbs. It's got everything we love about crazy people and everything we loathe about living in suburbia. We made homemade pizzas for lunch and had brownies for dessert, of course. Please like, rate and review wherever you get your podcasts and feel free to email us at movieswithmymother@yahoo.com Yes, I know we skipped number 20. 9 to 5 had some audio issues I've not yet managed to conquer. In the mean time, Mom and I watched Hot Fuzz. She came over with hardly any notes and was afraid she might not like this film. Turns out she loved it. We also talk about work, the US abolishing Day Light Saving's Time too fast, and just how cute Edgar Wright is! Mom was also grievously mauled by my kitten. Y'all!! I'm so sorry this has taken eight years to work on. We watched 9 To 5 and had a lovely chat about how much we love working. We had a themed lunch of sandwiches and also discussed other notable movies about women in the workforce, during Women's History month. Again, sorry this took so long to release. We hope you enjoy! Find us on Facebook at Movies With My Mother and on Twitter @MWMMpod. We have an email address: movieswithmymother@yahoo.com and we also have a website (finally): movieswithmymother.com...you might have to follow the google links a little? I'm not website savvy, so let us know if you can't find us. Mom and I sat down and watched Friday. We had planned on a different movie but decided this was a little more Mom's speed. Would you want to watch sex scenes, plural, with you mother?? I didn't think so. Our themed meal was awesome, but themed to the wrong Friday movie LOL. We had sweet ass burritos, but no extra hot sauce. We talk local politics, work and how my husband and I put a gaming cabinet together with no bloodshed. A first for us.
