Episode 36: Road House ft. Conan Neutron, Kenzo Shibata, Jake Flores

Forrest and Andy talk to Conan Neutron, Kenzo Shibata, and Jake Flores about Road House, bouncers, and what works about the movie.

Episode 35: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World with Conan Neutron & Chris Murphy of Sloan

Protonic Reversal X Movie Night Extravaganza crossover! Forrest and Andy talk to Conan Neutron of Protonic Reversal and Chris Murphy (vocalist and bassist of Sloan, Tuns) about Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Chris Murphy was either the music director or the music performance supervisor depending on the credit you trust... and we talked to him about teaching the cast how to convincingly play instruments and what it was like working with Edgar Wright.

Episode 33: Showgirls ft. Gabrielle Diekhoff & Kenzo Shibata

Forrest and Andy talk to Kenzo and Gab formerly from Beef Country Pod (soon to be renamed Final Girls) about Verhoeven's 1995 movie Showgirls. When it came out, film critics and audiences absolutely hated Showgirls. Elizabeth Berkley, who had only recently come off of Saved By The Bell, took the brunt of that hatred, which ended up destroying her career. The non-stop gratuitous nudity and passionless sex in the movie ended up netting it an NC-17 rating. However, the campiness (whether accidental or on purpose) and cartoonishness of the movie has led to cult status and newfound popularity. So we must ask the question: was Showgirls misunderstood? Is it a better movie than it was given credit for? Is the new popularity ironic? Did Verhoeven miss this time?

Episode 34: Dean Stockwell Tribute & "Paris, Texas"

Conan Neutron, Karthik Purushothaman, and Marina Dove talk to Forrest and J. Andrew World about the film "Paris, Texas" (1984) and Dean Stockwell. (Robert) Dean Stockwell passed away on November 7th at the age of 85. Starting as a child actor in the Golden Age of Hollywood, Dean Stockwell acted for 70+ years racking up 204 acting credits and working regularly with some of the most innovative directors of New Hollywood including David Lynch, Francis Ford Coppola, and Robert Altman. As an adult, Stockwell was a "character actor" and often in supporting roles due to his unique features. However, this wasn't always the case. Tonight, we will be talking about Paris, Texas by German Director Wim Wenders which allowed two prolific "character actors": Harry Dean Stanton and Dean Stockwell to take center stage as brothers named Travis and Walt who reunite after four years. Travis (Stanton) disappeared and after being found in a West Texas hospital Walt (Stockwell) rescues him and tries to bring him back from the wilderness. Episode 28: These Are Bad Chainsaws

We do a cross-over with Amy Bell and Amanda Ferriante from These Are Bad Movies and RC Roberts. In this episode, we talk about Tobe Hooper's iconic 1974 original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Episode 31: Log Off Fool ft. Cole James Cash & Nia Cola

We discuss Wes Craven's The People Under The Stairs with Cole James Cash and Nia Cola from Log Off Already: a horror movie that has everything: class analysis, racial commentary, and the Reagan's.

Episode 23: Psycho ft. Conan Neutron

Forrest and Andy discuss Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho with Conan Neutron. This 1960 movie was the catalyst for the official death of the Hay's Code and one of the first Proto-Slasher films. What can we learn about the slasher genre from Hitchcock's masterpiece?

Bonus: Halloween (2018)

Bonus
In the wake of Halloween Kills coming out, Forrest and Andy talk about Halloween (2018) with Conan Neutron, Karthik Purushothaman, and J.G. Michael.

Episode 24: John Carpenter's Halloween (1978)

Since Halloween Kills recently came out, we talked to J.G. Michael, Karthik Purushothaman, Conan Neutron, and Kenzo Shibata about the original 1978 Halloween. Halloween was (accidentally or not) the first film to really embody many of the tropes that still are re-used in the slasher genre: the final girl, the "you have sex, you die" rule, and the "masked slasher." The newest Halloween remakes (2018, 2021) seek to erase and re-write the franchise's legacy.

Episode 29: Blair Witch Factory

Forrest and Andy talk to Aaron and Carlee of Hit Factory about the Blair Witch Project (1999) What does this movie say about the 90's as a whole? Why has it been so hard to shake? And why has no other filmmaker been able to replicate it?
