đ THE KING OF TWERK HAS ENTERED THE MOSTHATED PODCAST.
This is one of those RARE episodes. Kansas City superstar Kstylis pulls up to the MostHated Podcast and takes us all the way back to BEFORE the hits, BEFORE the tours, and before the world knew the name Kstylis.
Long before âBooty Me Down,â Kstylis was known as K-Dog, creating his own dance moves at school and house parties and making a name for himself at the legendary teen spot Club Sweat.
He breaks down how watching his sister LT The Boss record music in a bedroom closet first sparked his interest in becoming an artist. He also talks about studying the movement created by artists like Soulja Boy and Fabo of D4Lâthen figuring out how to take inspiration from that era while creating his OWN sound, beats, dances and lane for the ladies.
Kstylis takes us back to his first recorded song, âSwag Check,â getting his momâs approval, connecting with Loso and the Spacekids, and creating early records and visuals like âJuice My Swag.â
Then came the record that started changing EVERYTHING: âHands Up Get Low.â
But that was only the beginning.
đĽ Kstylis tells the story behind linking with PrettyBoi Beats and creating the smash hit âBooty Me Down.â He remembers debuting the record in Texas and watching the crowd go so crazy that he thought somebody had LEAKED the songâor that they were reacting to somebody elseâs record. That was the moment he knew they had something DIFFERENT.
We also get into the HISTORY OF TWERK MUSIC.
Kstylis breaks down the different levels of twerking, how dancing has changed from his era to today, and how back then the MEN were doing just as much dancing as the women đ. He also speaks on connecting with DJ Vince and the people who helped push the movement forward.
But success came with some serious lessons.
Kstylis opens up about signing in 2012, problems with previous labels/management, feeling like people were trying to take advantage of his career, and eventually taking the situation to COURTâand WINNING.
Ironically, while fighting that battle, 2014 became one of the greatest years of his career.
With more independence came more music, more videos, more freedom and international travelâfrom Germany to Japan and beyond. He explains how becoming more independent helped unlock another level of Kstylis.
Years later, he would eventually sign with EMPIRE, where his music continues to be represented today.
đ He also shows major love to North Carolina, one of the first places outside Kansas City to truly embrace Kstylis and a market that continues booking him years later.
From Kansas City house parties to stages around the WORLD, Kstylis speaks on the highs, the lows, industry politics, being around some of entertainmentâs biggest names, surviving bad business situations and building a career with records that STILL make people move.
AND THEN HE DROPS AN EXCLUSIVE. đđĽ
Kstylis reveals who he has featured on his NEXT PROJECT and talks about something special he created for his FAVORITE ARTIST.
Weâre not giving that one away in the descriptionâyou gotta WATCH THE EPISODE. đ
This isnât just the story of âBooty Me Down.â
This is the story of how a kid from Kansas City turned dances he was creating at school and house parties into a sound and movement that traveled around the world.
