She is a dermatologist based in Calgary and a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Calgary. In addition to her commitment to education at the undergraduate medical level, she also plays a significant role in national dermatology resident physician teaching. I had the privilege of learning dermatology through her lens and from what I remember, she was extremely receptive to feedback and answering questions and left me feeling a little less intimidated about all the things I had to learn. Aches, Pains and Strains: Intro to Pediatrics and Pediatric Rheumatology
Dr. Nicole Johnson, a pediatric rheumatologist based in Calgary. She is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Calgary and received her university education at Canadian Institutions including McGill, McMaster, Queen’s and the University of Toronto. She is advocate for community awareness for children with rheumatic diseases and I had the honour of attending Dr. Johnson’s patient presentations where she had her young patients and their families join us for the afternoon to tell us about their experiences with different rheumatic conditions and the healthcare system. At this presentation she was referred to as a personal angel by each patient and their families. As you know, there are many subspecialties within pediatrics, but after witnessing the way she has transformed the lives of these young children, I am proud to have her for MedicMaps very first episode on pediatrics.

Dr. Yang is a member of the enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) society in Calgary and he has been leading the development of the ERAS program through his major contributions such as the development of the first ERAS guideline for lumbar fusion surgery.
