This week we're unpacking Mickey's undying hatred for the way that corporations are gamifying everything to try and co-opt our attention spans! What an uplifting topic, I know. Don't worry though because while we're going to complain a lot about microtransactions, our lowered threshold for understimulation and dopamine we're also going to paradoxically play a silly little guess the object game like last week! We, of course, get distracted and take some tangents to talk about the latest trends in Mormon hanky panky, a rant about high control religions, and our pitch for not starting the new year until Spring! This week we're talking about Meta's decision add fake AI profiles to their platforms because (wtf is that), the fact that kids don't even understand how to intelligently cheat anymore, and then Mickey quizzes Aaron on baby products because why not?! This week we're unpacking the obvious- the presidential election! Mostly because it sucked and was/is awful so we have thoughts about that, voter turnout, Gen Z men being Republicans, and where we go from here. We've also got some life updates for y'all because in what feels like the most US thing ever, our personal lives devolved into disaster alongside the terrible election news! We've got family drama, chronic illness updates, job drama, heartbreak, and birthday let downs and we take some brief side tangents about shopping for jumpsuits, PMDD, and our inane idea to host a re-do prom so I think we covered all our bases! This week we're unpacking mostly the first two episodes of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives because it's been a long time since either of us have been so transfixed by a TV show. There's lots to tease out not just because Dakota doesn't deserve Taylor and Whitney is being really mean but because a group of Mormon wives who were part of a swinger group that went viral is kind of a lot. Because it's us we also get lost in some Le Tigre lyrics, our beef with TikTok that is actually just our own projection of our insecurities, and how much we love Rings of Power. Enjoy the episode!
