Even when messages are clear, communication can break down—not because of what was said, but because of how it was interpreted and how we respond. Our habits, emotional triggers, and past experiences shape how we hear messages and how we react to them.

In this module, we explore how common response styles—like defensive, avoidant, aggressive, or empathic responses—can either escalate or improve communication. We also examine how personal biases influence interpretation before we’re even aware of it.
