Professional women’s tennis is back in Philadelphia for the first time in more than two decades.

On this episode of Law Meets Life, host Katie Frey chats with Kareem Bryant, Manager of Racket Sports at the University of Pennsylvania, from the inaugural Philly Open, a professional women’s tennis tournament bringing some of the world’s top players to Penn’s Hamlin Tennis Center.

Kareem takes us behind the scenes of what it takes to transform a college tennis facility into the home of a professional tournament, from grandstands and LED boards to community programming, clinics and partnerships.

They also discuss the growing momentum behind women’s sports, the importance of giving young athletes access to role models, and what bringing professional women’s tennis back to Philadelphia means for the city.

Plus, Kareem shares his own journey from learning to play tennis at Penn as a child to competing professionally, coaching with USA Tennis and ultimately returning to Philadelphia.
